Bevel gears are used to transfer motion and power between two intersecting axes. In general machinery, the Angle of intersection between two shafts of bevel gears is equal to 90° (but may not be equal to 90°). Similar to cylindrical gears, bevel gears have indexing cones, tip cones, root cones and base cones. The cone has a big end and a small end, and the corresponding circle of the big end is called the dividing circle (its radius is R), the addendum circle, the root circle and the base circle respectively. The motion of a pair of bevel gears is equivalent to that of a pair of nodal cones for pure rolling
